While the Adelaide Hills, Margaret River and the Yarra Valley have rightly earned their place in Australian Chardonnay-making folklore, Chardonnay is an extremely versatile variety faring very well in the Hunter.

At the Australian Small Winemakers Show in October, there were three Chardonnay classes:
|
2011 Chardonnays |
Two gold medals - one to WA and one to QLD
|
|
2010 Chardonnays |
Three gold medals - two from WA and one from the Hunter Valley (our very own V Series Chardonnay!) |
|
Earlier Chardonnays |
Three gold medals - two from the Hunter Valley (Audrey Wilkinson and Mistletoe) and one from WA |
The Australian Small Winemakers Show is a national show so it is worth noting that of the 8 medals awarded, 3 were awarded to wines made right here in the Hunter Valley. The Hunter Valley makes some of Australia's best Chardonnay.
It makes us extremely proud to know that our small, 30 acre winery, has produced a Chardonnay rated among the best from the country’s best small winemakers. So Chardy lovers - look out for its release at the Members New Release Day in May next year.
