The Beginning

Mount View Estate is nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Mount View mountain range, and our vines were planted over 45 years ago in 1971. The vineyard site was chosen for its rich, basalt, volcanic soil, which is considered to be some of the best in the Hunter Valley. The combination of these wonderful soils, mature vines and the winery’s dedication to producing high quality wines have made Mount View Estate one of the Hunter’s most award-winning wineries.

“ far the best tasting of the day.

Hence why we are now members and

have some wine with us. Thanks again

and we will be back."

- Lachlan

The Wines

The vineyard is planted with traditional premium Hunter Varieties including Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho (Mount View Estate being one of the first vineyards in the Hunter to plant this variety), Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Pinot Noir and Merlot. Mount View Estate also produces specialty fortified wines such as Liqueur Verdelho and Liqueur Shiraz - the perfect end to any meal.

The Wine Maker

Scott has been making the wines at Mount View Estate since October 2012. During Scott's nearly 25 year winemaking career, he has previously been winemaker for McWilliams Mount Pleasant and winemaker/manager of Tower Estate (founded by the late and great Len Evans AO OBE). He has also worked vintages in Burgundy ( France ) and the Napa Valley ( U.S.A. ). During Scott's time at Tower Estate, he made wine from most of Australia's premium winegrowing regions.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Applied Science ( Wine Science ) and an Associate Diploma in Laboratory Science. Scott has also completed the A.W.R.I. Advanced Wine Assessment course, and has judged at both local and national wine shows. Whilst having experienced winemaking in many other regions, Scott has a great fondness of, and belief in, the quality and style of Hunter Valley wines.

When not making wine, Scott can be found :
a) at home raising children and drinking wine
b) at lunch drinking wine

c) occasionally at the beach
